Concert performed by Jay Daniels, Voice and Piano

It Might as Well Be Swing: A Tribute to Sinatra and Basie

In 1962, two musical titans came together for the beginning of an iconic partnership that would last throughout the 1960s. Frank Sinatra and Count Basie would release their first studio recording, "Sinatra-Basie," that year, and two years later they would follow it up with one of the greatest jazz offerings of the 20th century - "It Might as Well Be Swing." Join pianist and vocalist Jay Daniels as he explores their collaborations and arrangements through his own unique piano and vocal stylings. Featured selections include "Fly Me to the Moon," "The Tender Trap," "The Best Is Yet to Come," and "Get Me to the Church on Time."

What makes certain songs memorable? What allows them to stand the test of time? For pianist and vocalist Jay Daniels, the answer is simple. These songs possess a rich combination of melody and lyrics, unsurpassed by many modern compositions. At each performance, Jay not only brings a fresh interpretation of these classics, but he makes a lasting impression with his audience. For Jay, it’s not merely an opportunity to perform. For Jay, it’s an opportunity to share his gift of music.
