Sweet and Sour Meatballs

  • 1 pound meatloaf mix
  • 2 minced shallots
  • 1 minced garlic cloves
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon fresh or dried thyme
  • Fresh ground pepper and salt to taste (this does not need much salt)
  • 1/2 cup grape jelly
  • 1/2 cup chili sauce


  1. Place all ingredients, except for the last 2 in a mixing bowl.

  2. Mix with hands until all ingredients are blended - DO NOT OVERMIX (this will make  the meatballs too tough).

  3. Roll the mixture into 3/4 inch ball and place on a sheet pan.

  4. Bake at 350 degrees for anout 20 minuted or until meatballs are cooked through.

  5. Heat the jelly and chili sauce in a heavy sauce pan until it simmers.

  6. Add meatballs and simmer for about 15-20minutes.
