Homemade French Vanilla Ice Cream

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup sugar
  • Vanilla bean or extract
  • 1/2 cup 2% milk
  • 3 egg yolks


  1. Bring milk, cream and sugar to a boil.

  2. Slowly pour over egg yolks and whisk.

  3. Return to pot and continue whisking and bring it back to a boil for 1 minute.

  4. Pour into glass dish and freeze for 20 minutes.

  5. Pour into ice cream maker and follow manufacturer's directions.
