Summer Harvesting and Canning

Preparing Jars and Lids:

Make sure all of your jars, lids and bands are in good condition without cracks/dents or uneven edges. Wash jars and two-piece caps in hot soapy water; rinse well. Dry bands and set aside. Heat jars and lids in simmering water for about 15 minutes to ensure sterility (do not boil), then turn off water and let them sit in the hot water until ready to use.
